About Capstone
Project-based Real World Learning Experience
The NCE Engineering Capstone program is a project-based learning experience where students work in multi-disciplinary teams to address real world problems faced by a business, government, agency, or non-profit.
The student teams work directly with a contact at a company to learn about the project and develop and design actionable solutions.
Through the program students gain real-world work experience, problems solving skills, and valuable team experience. The company mentor or sponsor meets with the students throughout the semester to monitor progress and answer questions.
It’s a perfect way to use the eco-system of a research university and a cohort of bright undergraduate students to augment your resources and maintain a lead over your competition.
Recruit Talent
Capstone provides a direct line of talent and potential future employees for businesses. Sponsor companies work directly with students providing a first-hand look at the work of students for consideration for future internship or post-graduation job opportunities.
Coach and Mentor Students
Project sponsors act as partners, mentors, and coaches to students regular communication and meetings.
Academic Credit for Students
Students successfully completing the Capstone program receive academic credit for their NCE Senior Design capstone course which is a requirement for graduation.
