Join the NJIT Newark College of Engineering Industry Sponsored Capstone Program
Process
It’s a pleasure to invite you to apply to NJIT’s Newark College of Engineering Industry Sponsored Capstone Program. To begin, we invite you to submit a project proposal. Our program has a large contingent of both undergraduate and graduate engineering students and faculty. Once we receive your project proposal, we will contact you to discuss and develop a proposal that will be advertised to our engineering capstone student population.
Our capstone process consists of the following steps:
- Submit a Project Proposal – Submit your project using the online submission tool
- Acceptance of the Project Proposal - The NCE Engineering Capstone team reviews coordinates with the sponsor before acceptance.
- Presentation of Accepted Projects -Accepted projects are presented to capstone students and teams are formed.
- Project Scope Development - As the semester starts the student teams coordinate heavily with faculty and the project sponsor to develop tightly defined project specifications, deliverable expectations, and a project management plan. The plan is agreed upon by the students and the sponsor. This process often finishes within 1-2 months, but must be finished within the first semester of the capstone program.
- Presentations – At the conclusion of the first semester capstone teams will present a review of work done and a plan to bring the project to a conclusion at the end of the next semester.
- Capstone Showcase – At the conclusion of the second semester of the capstone project students will present their work and respond to questions from an industry panel of judges and compete for Best Project Awards.
