Case Medical tasked the Ying Wu College of Computing Capstone students to evaluate and enhance their current RFID medical asset scanning / tracking software. The intent of this software is to track, record and provide reporting on assets within a medical facility. This team quickly evaluated Case Medical’s existing solution and provided alternatives to ensure system performances metrics were met. This project provided opportunities to enhance the current architecture and to implement new business functionality. Higher level needs involved automating existing manual “behind the scenes” technical tasks, provided solutions to optimize the existing application architecture, evaluated and provided recommendations regarding existing RFID scanning hardware on the market today and developed an enhanced UI dashboard in a timely manner scanned RFID tag and asset location information to the end-user.
